Our Mission
The objective of the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce is to advance the economic base and enhance the quality of life of the Kerrville/Kerr County area.

Our Vision
We the Chamber wish to preserve the natural beauty and rich heritage of the Hill Country by encouraging responsible commerce and carefully managed growth, by promoting opportunities for all citizens and by leaving a proud legacy for future generations.

2009-2010 GOALS:

In order to accomplish its mission during 2009-2010, the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce will conduct its work using the following three strategies:

v     Develop Task Forces Addressing Community Issues

v    Increase Community Involvement and Collaboration

v    Expand Organizational Resources and Communications

 

 

STRATEGIES:

Develop Task Forces addressing community issues:

 

v     Education committee to continue focusing on school to business programs in grades 6 through 12

v     Governmental affairs to foster increased communications regarding issues and specific positions from elected officials and their impact on members’ businesses

v     Affordable housing to partner with existing organizations and continue dialogue to increase awareness of need

v     Physician recruitment & retention to work in concert with Peterson Regional Medical Center in the efforts to build and maintain its physicians network

v     Downtown revitalization to partner with existing organizations and continue dialogue for the implementation of a downtown master plan

v     Business Recycling Program to create a green program for businesses and continue offering document shredding programs

v     Airport Progress and promotion continues as a way to help build awareness for the value of the facility as a generator of business in the community

 

 

Increase Community Involvement and Collaboration:

 

v     Continue working with Kerr Economic Development Foundation and other economic entities on the implementation of the economic development strategic plan

v     Continue training tomorrow’s leaders from across the community through Leadership Kerr County, and offering seminars and programs that foster leadership training

v     Support the creation and implementation of a Convention Center Facility

v     Work with multiple groups to foster Downtown Revitalization

v     Work with airport management and governmental agencies to increase awareness of the airport’s economic value and report status through magazine articles and web updates

v     Business recycling for two community shred days available at no cost to members and for a fee to the general public

v     Continue offering an increasing array of opportunities that will add value to our members’ investments, including but not limited to, advertising, marketing, health care, member 2 member discount programs and other services designed to provide direct benefit to our members’ businesses.

 

Expand Organizational Resources and Communications

 

v     6th Annual Cowboy Breakfast in January, 2010 on the Courthouse grounds

v     After Hours Networking Mixers held monthly during the year on the third Thursday of the month except March, June, September and December.

v     6th Annual James Avery Hill Country Golf Classic in November, 2009 in conjunction with Riverhill Country Club, The Club at Comanche Trace and Scott Schreiner Golf Course.

v     Annual Holiday Breakfast in December, 2009.

v     Membership Luncheons held in March and June with speakers addressing key topics of interest to business.

v     15th Annual Sandbaggers Open Golf Tournament in March, 2010 at Riverhill Country Club.

v     10th Annual Dancing With The Kerrville Stars in May, 2010 at Schreiner University.

v     88th Annual Banquet & Awards Dinner in September, 2010 at Inn of the Hills

v     Complete leasing of chamber office complex; maintain and grow relationships with tenants.

v     Membership Growth & Retention through Showcase Kerrville in October, 2009, Operation Thank You in January, 2010 and continued assistance from Chamber’s Ambassadors.

v     Communications with membership through broadcast emails, website updating, official map of Kerrville, Our View magazine and Kerrville Area Business Monthly magazine.

v     Continue fiscal responsibility within the organization by maximizing resources, controlling spending and focusing on ways to keep the chamber operating efficiently.

  • Initiate a new after hours event to combine music, food, beverages and our downtown area that attracts younger (21+) women and men from our community; enlist sponsorships and volunteer support from multiple groups.
